Handgun FRT Triggers Explained
In a pistol, the slide does the job a bolt carrier does in a rifle. As it cycles, it returns the trigger to its reset point. Each design works a little differently:
- Glock FRT kits from Texas Triggers pair a billet aluminum shoe with stainless resets fitted to your pistol. See Glock FRT triggers.
- Freedom Finger 22TY replaces the factory disconnector in the Taurus TX22, TX22C, 2TX22 and 2TX22C.
- Freedom Finger M&P 2.0 replaces the factory backplate on full-size, compact and subcompact M&P 2.0 pistols.
Both Freedom Finger designs fall back to normal semi-automatic operation if the forced reset does not engage, and both carry a lifetime manufacturer warranty. Handgun FRTs usually need careful fitting, so we recommend a qualified gunsmith. Read each product’s compatibility and safety notes before ordering.
Handgun FRT Triggers FAQs
Is there an FRT for the Taurus TX22?
Yes. The Freedom Finger 22TY fits the Taurus TX22, TX22C (Competition), 2TX22 and 2TX22C.
Does the M&P FRT fit the M&P Shield?
No. The Freedom Finger M&P model fits M&P 2.0 pistols only. It does not fit the M&P 1.0, Shield, SD, FPC or Bodyguard.
Are handgun FRTs harder to install?
Usually, yes. Pistols vary in tolerances, so handgun FRTs often need fitting. A qualified gunsmith is recommended.
